BEYOND BATHYMETRY
BEYOND BATHYMETRY
Beyond Bathymetry
Animals use acoustics to communicate and explore. Dolphins and bats use acoustics to hunt and navigate in environments where site is of limited use. TSR has developed and is developing acoustic tools to explore similar environments in both air and water. Underwater applications of acoustics are of particular interest because even in daylight vision is limited and other modalities such as radar don’t work at all. A typical application for underwater acoustics is bathymetry. Our systems can do this but like the dolphin we are going for more. We use acoustics to establish an information presence in the water.
Think Sensor Research Inc. (TSR) is a Canadian company designing, developing and manufacturing sensor system solutions with a concentration in underwater acoustic sensors. These solutions provide timely, efficient information gathering for diverse application areas going Beyond Bathymetry including underwater structure scanning, environmental monitoring, fish counting, mine hunting, surveillance (air, water, and air/water interface). Markets include scientific, environmental, clean tech, industrial and defense.
Products
The TSR Single Channel Sonar is a sonar solution designed for range and depth measurement and single dimension velocity profiling. The sonar is coherent from ping to ping, generating in-phase and quadrature components (I and Q) of the returned signal.
In addition, the sonar electronics can be used with underwater or in-air ultrasonic transducers for platform positioning and motion detection. When stationary the sonar can be used to measure very small changes in environmental parameters related to the speed of sound (e.g. average medium temperature).
Sonar technology with coherent angle of arrival phased array signal processing generating co-located sonar image and profile data. The sonar can be deployed as a sidescan or sector scan depending on mission requirements.
The TSR-100 MRU is a Motion Reference Unit (MRU) designed to accurately measure pitch, roll, heading and heave in surface and underwater applications under static and dynamic conditions.
The TSR-100 MRU can be mounted on marine vessels, remotely operated vehicles, and autonomous underwater vehicles to help support your mission objectives such as sonar surveys, imaging sonar compensation, attitude measurement and orientation.
